Game into Administration

March 23, 2012 - administrator - Uncategorized

Highstreet retailer Game Group has said it intends to file for administration.

Dwindling sales in the highstreet and overexpansion have seen shares fall from 62p a year ago to 2.39p on Tuesday. Games core business has suffered greatly at the hands of online retailers with bargain deals on games and consoles eating away at Game’s turnover.

Piers Harding-Rolls, head of games at IHS Screen Digest has said ‘there was still a place for a large specialist games retailer on the high street, with 70% of games content in the UK still in the form of physical media’.

With Suppliers like Electronic Arts failing to supply Game, it is hard to predict the future of Game Group. We wish them luck.
